Adopting my friend's dog?

If you are 19 and have a job that you can pay for the dog's medical and stuff, they should let you have it. If they will be paying for medical, food, etc., they have every right to say no. I am 19 and living at home and my parents hate dogs, but I pay for ALL his expenses, so they let me keep him.
